OKLAHOMA CITY — Two firefighters were injured Tuesday while battling a fire at a vehicle battery store.

The firefighters had responded to a fire at Hunter’s Battery Warehouse.

Fire officials said a malfunctioning battery charger ignited the blaze.

The fire near SW 25 and Walker Avenue was reported about 7 a.m. When firefighters arrived they found flames near the back of the business causing heavy smoke.

Oklahoma City Fire Deputy Chief Cecil Clay said firefighters had to remove heavy pieces of metal to get to the flames. One firefighter suffered a back injury and another pulled a muscle in his arm. Both were treated at a local hospital. The fire was out about 7:40 a.m., Clay said.
