HOUSTON — Four Houston firefighters and a 15-year-old girl were injured after a BMW crashed into a fire engine late Sunday night.
Houston firefighters were blocking traffic at a crash scene when the BMW struck the apparatus, according to ABC 13.
The 15-year-old passenger in the BMW was seriously injured but is expected to survive. The Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association said in a Facebook post Monday that four firefighters were hospitalized with minor injuries.
Officials say they believe the crash was likely caused by distracted driving.
“This one may not have had drugs or alcohol but the end game is still the same, someone you love is seriously hurt,” Sean Teare with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office told ABC 13. “Four firefighters almost didn’t go home to their families on Father’s Day because someone was too tired, distracted or intoxicated. Any of those things are unacceptable. Don’t do it.”
