PRICHARD, Ala. — A group of Prichard firefighters is fed up with what they call unsuitable working conditions that put the public’s safety at risk. The men claim some equipment they use expired back in the mid 90’s and said even responding to a fire is a danger in itself.
"[We’re] driving the apparatuses with no brakes,” firefighter Joshua McCoy told Local 15 Reporter Derrick Rose, “They know that one wrong move it can harm themselves and anybody else when we’re out here.”
The men first expressed those concerns privately to Mayor Troy Ephriam. “They asked for my ear and appealed to my senses and thoughts as to what we need to do to improve,” Ephriam said.
