Many areas of the country are experiencing falling leaves from trees. While the fallen leaves do add to the colorful landscape, they also present a hazard to us in the fire service.
One hazard is that they cover the ground or the landscape. This hides any visible hazards that may be present such as ponds, well covers, dips in the ground and so forth. Be aware of the leaves and probe in front of you if you’re not sure of what lies ahead.
