BROOKE COUNTY, W.Va. — There’s trouble for the Follansbee Volunteer Fire Department.

Fire Chief Larry Rea has been called before the disciplinary committee of the state fire commission. This all stems from a state evaluation conducted at the fire department in March 2014. State officials said there was a laundry list of inadequacies, including training deficiencies, a lack of maintenance records, equipment, and certifications.

Officials with the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety said the Follansbee VFD was notified of the issues and given time to correct them. Neither of those efforts were a total success.
