IRONWOOD, Mich. — Multiple buildings were damaged and the grandstands at the Gogebic County Fairgrounds were destroyed by a fire Tuesday. According to the Ironwood Public Safety Department, the fire was reported just before 10 a.m. and crews were able to be on scene four minutes after receiving the call.

When crews arrived, they found the grandstands and an adjacent horse barn fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters decided to focus on protecting other buildings near the fire and contain the blaze to the areas that were already engulfed. Mutual aid was requested from nearby departments and firefighters were able to get the fire under control by 10:45 a.m.

Two nearby buildings were also damaged, but no injuries were reported. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
