Gear, equipment donated after blaze at Ill. firehouse

The fire caused thousands of dollars’ worth in damage; the chief said he has received over 100 donation offers

STOCKTON, Ill. — The fire community has come together to help the Stockton Fire Department after their station caught fire last week.

THonline.com reported the blaze caused thousands of dollars’ worth in damage to fire equipment and the station.

“I have probably had over 100 offers of trucks, gear, help, support ... it is so overwhelming,” said Fire Chief Randy Baysinger.

Nearby departments loaned equipment and gear while fire officials assess the damage.

“We have a long road ahead of us … but rest assured we are here, and if you need us, we will be there,” Chief Baysinger said.

A GoFundMe campaign was created to help raise $50,000 for the department. It has generated over $5,000 in donations so far.
