A former fire department officer did not return a department radio, rescue gear and fire gear when he left the volunteer fire company department earlier this year

GREENSBURG, Pa. — State police at Greensburg are investigating the theft of $7,030 worth of equipment from the Slickville Volunteer Fire Department in Salem.

Police said they have a suspect but did not identify the man or say when the theft occurred.

Slickville Assistant Fire Chief Richard Balik said yesterday that a former fire department officer did not return a department radio, rescue gear and fire gear when he left the volunteer fire company department earlier this year. The gear was not returned despite repeated attempts to contact the former firefighter, Balik said.
