CUSTER, Mich. — Community members and firefighters are mourning the loss of their fire chief after he died from a cardiac complication.
UpNorthLive reported that Custer Fire Chief John Allison died Monday night of an apparent cardiac related issue at a local hospital.
Chief Allison was stricken Oct. 8 after responding to a trailer fire. He was treated and released a few days later. However, he suffered another episode at his home.
The funeral and visitation will take place Saturday. Visitation is from 1:30-3 p.m. with the funeral starting at 3 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church is Pere Marquette Township, according to the report.
Officials say they expect as many as 800 people at Saturday’s service.
