CINNAMINSON, N.J. — A longtime township firefighter died early Saturday, officials said.

Lt. Chris Hunter was discovered unresponsive at his home in the township early Saturday. He had worked Friday morning, but information about when he finished his shift and any emergency calls that occurred while Hunter was on duty was not available Saturday.

“It’s obviously a huge loss to the town,” Councilman William “Ben” Young said after meeting with fire officials. “He’s homegrown and went to school here so this is going to be felt by a lot of people. The fire company is devastated.” The suspected cause of Hunter’s death was also not available.
