On June 6, 2004, firefighters battled a fire at an apartment building in the New Desert Vista apartments in Barstow, Calif. The blaze displaced seven families and destroyed the entire apartment complex. The fire began at 0500 HRS in the ceiling of a vacant apartment and quickly spread to adjacent apartments. Approximately 30 firefighters battled the blaze, which they were able to extinguish around 1400 HRS. One firefighter suffered minor injuries; no residents were injured.
