MIAMI — A firefighter who was injured after being struck by a vehicle at a crash scene was released from the hospital.
NBC Miami reported that Miami Fire-Rescue firefighter Javier Corrales was one of two firefighters who was struck by an SUV while responding to a hit-and-run crash, but he said he does not remember the near-death experience.
“I remember getting to the scene and then I just remember waking up at the trauma center. I don’t remember anything that happened during the accident,” Corrales said.
Corrales was recently discharged from the hospital and said he is optimistic about his recovery and hopes he can “come back to work” soon.
“My wife has been here with me from the beginning, and from all the guys, this fire department is the best,” he said.
