SANDY, Utah — A battalion chief is recovering at the hospital after being struck by a vehicle at the scene of a crash.
KSL reported that the unidentified battalion chief responded to a two-vehicle crash scene on the highway.
Police said he was checking on people who were inside one of the vehicles involved in the crash when another vehicle lost control and struck the battalion chief with its bumper, pinning him between the vehicle and the other car.
The battalion chief was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition, but his condition was later stabilized and upgraded.

“Our firefighter brother is doing great,” Utah Highway Patrol said in a tweet. “Reports are that he doesn’t have any severe injuries. He may be released from the hospital shortly.”
