Mass. firefighter struck by falling debris

BROCKTON, Mass. — A firefighter with Brockton Fire was taken to the hospital after he was struck by falling debris, Boston25 News reports.

The firefighter was struck while battling a fire at a house on Monday morning. Firefighters saw flames on the second floor of the residence that extended up to the third floor of the home, Fire Chief Brian Nardelli said.

While firefighters were battling the blaze and addressing hot spots, a firefighter below was struck by charred debris dislodged from the house.

Initially, crews had received a report that a person was trapped on the third floor of the home, but firefighters quickly determined the woman had escaped to safety, Nardelli said.

The firefighter was transported to a local hospital in an ambulance for his injuries.
