Fire safety theme park opens in China

The park, called 199 after the nation’s emergency number, is in the same city where two explosions rocked a chemical warehouse in August

TIANJIN, China — A Chinese city opened a fire safety theme park staffed by local firefighters.

BBC reported that the park, called 199 for the country’s emergency number, is located in Tianjin, a city that was recently rocked by two explosions at a chemical warehouse.

The park features a maze filled with orange smoke, allowing visitors to experience limited visibility. People in the maze must get out within 30 seconds. There’s also an attraction to let visitors see what it takes to be a firefighter by aiming a fire hose at a small target.

The park also includes information on the history of the fire service and advice on how to activate fire alarms in an emergency.
