MEXICO CITY — Search dog teams have been deployed to Mexico City to help with rescue efforts after a fatal earthquake shook the city.
SDF search teams are helping after the deadly 7.2 magnitude earthquake killed hundreds. Teams have extensive search and rescue experience and will assist in searching through the rubble to make life-saving rescues.
In Puerto Rico, SDF search team Kristi Bartlett and Ivan are staging for Hurricane Maria and have not left since Hurricane Irma. The current storm is slamming the island and areas in the Caribbean, the same area that Irma hit hard just over a week ago.
A total of 25 SDF teams have returned home after their deployments to Texas and Florida in response to Harvey and Irma. Some teams responded to both deployments back-to-back and worked tirelessly to make sure no one was left behind.
Hurricane Harvey was the first time that teams from all 28 FEMA Task Forces in the U.S. responded to a disaster.
