LOS ANGELES — Contrary to an earlier assertion by the fire chief and the mayor, no firefighters will be disciplined for allowing two of their engines to be used in porn movies, NBC4 has learned.
In a letter from Fire Chief Brian L. Cummings to City Councilman Dennis Zine, the chief asserts that the acts of misconduct are outside the bounds of the two-year statute of the limitations set in the city charter.
“The Fire Department cannot suspend, remove or separate a sworn member from service for acts that are over two years old,” Cummings wrote. An investigation by the LAFD found that the videos were taken in 2008.
