A firefighter/paramedic charged last week with DUI after his vehicle was stuck on railroad tracks and was hit by a train has resigned.

Jessica Greene, a public information officer for Marion County Fire Rescue, said Austin G. Moore, 22, who had been with the agency 3 ½ years, met with his supervisor Monday and made his intention known.

Moore was reached Tuesday by phone, but declined to comment. Moore had no record of disciplinary issues while he was with MCFR.
