RAMROD KEY, Fla. — A firefighter was arrested and charged with battery after a confrontation at a bar.
MyFox8.com reported that Dustin Hunt, who works at the Monroe County Fire Department, was arrested at the Looe Key Tiki Bar, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim said Hunt attacked him when he would not give him a cigarette. The victim sustained injuries to his face. Despite witness confirmation of the victim’s story, Hunt claimed the victim had attacked him.
“I am disappointed,” Monroe County Fire Chief James Callahan said. “We hold our firefighters to a higher standard and this type of behavior is not tolerated. There will be consequences.”
Hunt is due to appear in court in July.
