BALTIMORE, Md. — Three fire companies will be permanently disbanded under a plan proposed tonight by Baltimore City Fire Chief James Clack.
The chief says closing those companies permanently, is a better solution than what’s been going on for the past three years — “rotating” closures, in which different companies have been taken out of service on any given night.
“No fire stations are closing,” Chief Clack said. “No firefighters are being laid off. All we’re doing is re-deploying what we’ve got.”
