USFA to close emergency management information-sharing, analysis center

The Emergency Management and Response — Information Sharing and Analysis Center will cease operations on June 1 amid cost reviews and federal restructuring directives

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) plans to shutter the Emergency Management and Response — Information Sharing and Analysis Center effective June 1, 2025, according to a message from EMR-ISAC staff to emergency service sector partners.

The decision comes as federal agencies continue to evaluate programs for cost-effectiveness and compliance with directives from the Trump administration.

“The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) can no longer support the Emergency Management and Response Information Sharing & Analysis Center (EMR-ISAC) at this time,” the message states.

EMR-ISAC was established to support situational awareness and risk communication among emergency responders nationwide. The program distributes critical infrastructure protection information, threat analysis and best practices for first responders through products such as the InfoGram bulletin.

The message from EMR-ISAC staff acknowledges the program’s value and the role it played in advancing responder safety.

“Your contributions have been invaluable in enhancing the safety and preparedness of emergency responders nationwide,” the message reads. It also notes that similar information is now available through various open sources focused on fire and emergency services.

No public-facing notice had been posted on the USFA’s website as of May 28. According to the agency’s Critical Infrastructure Protection page, EMR-ISAC’s mission has centered on sharing information to help fire and EMS agencies mitigate and respond to emerging threats to critical infrastructure and responder safety.
