Tenn. firefighter suffers fatal on-duty medical emergency

Nashville Firefighter Wayne Barry Jr. suffered a medical emergency at Fire Station 32

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nashville Fire Department Firefighter Wayne Barry Jr. died on March 17 while on duty, according to the department.

Firefighter Wayne Barry Jr. suffered a medical emergency around 2 a.m. at Fire Station 32 on Andrew Jackson Parkway, WSMV reported.

He was taken to Summit Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Metro Nashville police were called in to assist with the investigation.
