OAKBOR, N.C. — A teen firefighter died Sunday while on his way to a water rescue.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration, East Side Fire Department volunteer firefighter Dakota Snavely, 17, was involved in a vehicle crash while driving to a water rescue at Morrow Mountain State Park.
Snavely died from his injuries sustained in the crash.
The teen was a member of the department, where his father was also a fire captain, for three years.
The incident is currently under investigation.
