NORTH BELLE VERNON, Pa. — A fire safety officer died Wednesday after falling and suffering a severe injury while leaving his home for a response call.
USFA reported that Charles Horan, 61, with the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, was preparing to leave to assist law enforcement gain access to the roof of a building on Monday. He tripped, fell and was assisted by fellow responders.
He was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Horan was a 43-year fire service veteran.
