Duty Death: Brian J. Sullivan - [Bronx]

NEW YORK — Mayor Bill de Blasio and Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro announced the death of FDNY’s Lt. Brian J. Sullivan, who suffered a fatal heart attack in his home after responding to a kitchen fire.
According to an FDNY Facebook post, Lt. Sullivan responded to a kitchen fire in the Bronx during his 24-hour shift with the department. He led and responded with Squad Company 41 members to seven emergencies that night. The kitchen fire was the third fire he had responded to in the last three days.
“Brian Sullivan was a dedicated Firefighter who put himself in harm’s way for 27 years to protect the lives of others. Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife Irene, and two daughters Nicole and Samantha.” FDNY Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro said, “Lieutenant Sullivan was a veteran fire officer and a dedicated member of our elite Special Operations Command who bravely served the department for nearly three decades. The city and the entire department mourn the loss of this brave individual who spent his career protecting life and property and rescuing others from harm.”
Sullivan told fellow firefighters he wasn’t feeling well, but finished his tour. When he returned home, he went into cardiac arrest, and emergency responders rushed him to the Orange County Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
His wife and two daughters survive him. His funeral is scheduled for August 16 in Monroe, New York.
