ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. — Firefighters are calling for a county fire commissioner to be removed after he insulted a police officer and volunteer firefighter on social media.

WSPA reported that Commissioner Willard Wiles allegedly took to Facebook to bash Anderson Police Officer Jallas Carter, who is also a Homeland Park Volunteer Fire Department firefighter, after he resigned amidst excessive force allegations, according to Townville Fire Chief Billy McAdams.

“When you send a BOY to do a MAN’S job,” Wiles allegedly posted, along with a photo of Carter.

“Our group of fire chiefs, the majority in Anderson County, want to know why we are being held accountable for our actions and what we say on social media, but the higher ups are not,” McAdams said. “He’s attacking all of public safety not just firefighters; it’s now been directed towards a police officer.”

Firefighters attended the monthly commission meeting Tuesday to express their concern over Wiles’ actions on social media. McAdams said this is the second time in six months that Wiles, who was not present for the meeting, has posted negative thoughts toward public safety on Facebook.

“If this continues to go on I’m worried that we will continue to lose the young people,” McAdams said.
