MANTECA, Calif. — Firefighters had just returned from an emergency call to their station on South Union Road early Sunday morning when a motorist crashed into the front garage door, narrowly missing several firefighters who were just a few feet away, according to the Manteca Fire Department.
The car that rammed the door, described as a late-model gray or silver Toyota sedan, struck it a second time before fleeing the scene about 1:30 a.m. The station is at 1154 S. Union Road, just north of Highway 120.
No injuries were reported, but the fire station sustained significant damage, according to the department statement.
