DURHAM, N.C. — After a firefighter found nearly $1,000, he tracked down the man who it belonged to.

Firefighter Roy Jimerson stopped traffic to collect the flying money near a credit union.

“I saw that it was money, so I turned around and blocked traffic, picked it up; another citizen stopped and helped me gather it,” Jimerson told ABC11.

Along with the money, Jimerson found a bank slip with Keyon Waddell’s name. Jimerson tracked down Waddell after finding out his mother works as an administrative assistant at the police department.

According to Waddell’s mother, Edna Streeter, her son was moving his money to another bank but didn’t notice he lost it.

“We all are just so excited that there are still good people here in Durham,” Streeter said.
