CREOLA, Ala. — A teen spent all the money he had to buy firefighters water while they were battling a blaze at his house.

Inside Edition reported that Casie Bennett called Creola Fire Department when she woke up to her house on fire. While they extinguished the flames, she and her son, Kenneth Bennett, got something to drink at a gas station.

Kenneth, 15, had noticed the firefighters’ cooler was out of water, so he spent his last $40 to buy more.

“He just watched everything he owns go up in flames and he thought about somebody else,” Bennett said. “That’s how I raised him to look out for others before yourself.”

When the community found out Kenneth had been saving money for an anniversary date with his girlfriend, local businesses teamed up and organized a night out for the couple.

“They planned the special night for Kenneth. A local business provided a limo and they were able to go to a restaurant, all expenses paid,” Bennett said.
