ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Firefighters in Orange County were able to safely rescue two construction workers who hit a 40-foot-high power line and were stuck inside an extended bucket truck, officials said.
Orange County Fire Rescue responded about 11 a.m. Tuesday to Consulate Drive off South John Young Parkway, where the two workers were trapped in the bucket touching electrical wires that are still charged, according to a tweet from the agency.
About an hour later, OCFR reported the two workers were able to get down safely, but would be checked by paramedics. No medical emergencies were reported.
Duke Energy arrived to the scene just before noon to shut off power to the transmission line, OCFR tweeted.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Consulate Drive was shut down Tuesday morning from South Park Center Loop to State Road 528 due to the ongoing rescue operation. It wasn’t immediately clear when it would reopen.
