BOSTON — Quick-thinking neighbors along with police and firefighters supplied enough muscle to lift an SUV and rescue a Framingham second-grader yesterday morning after the boy was struck while rushing to catch a school bus, police said.

Adults and kids who witnessed the horrifying 7:30 a.m. crash rushed onto Second Street to rescue the boy, 7, from under the Nissan Murano, said Framingham police Lt. Paul Shastany.

“With police and fire as well as the neighbors, they were able to lift the vehicle up,” Shastany said.

The boy, who sustained serious chest injuries, has been transported to the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Shastany said.
