TEWKSBURY, Mass. — Flames tore through a Tewksbury home early Sunday morning with the family inside. Sunday night, they were lucky to be alive and they were thanking their neighbor who raced to the rescue when he saw the fire break out.
The neighbor is an off-duty firefighter. He said he was trying to fall asleep when he heard the commotion outside and noticed the fire. He ran to the burning home and banged on the front door until the neighbors woke up.
The two alarm fire may have started in a small pickup truck parked in the driveway. Neighbors heard explosions around 1:30 a.m. and many ran from their homes.
