SAN FRANCISCO — A firefighter was rescued Friday after falling down an elevator shaft at a two-alarm structure fire, ABC7 reported.

A mayday was called. A rapid intervention team rescued the firefighter, who the fire department said, was transported to a hospital and is expected to recover.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
