7 rescued off balconies at Md. 2-alarm apartment fire

Prince George’s County firefighters faced fire on two floors of the three-story garden apartment

GREENBELT, Md. — Firefighters in Prince George’s County rescued seven people, including a child, from their balconies during a two-alarm apartment fire in Greenbelt.

The fire began at approximately 8:45 a.m. in the 6100 block of Breezewood Drive on March 19. When firefighters arrived, they found flames engulfing the first and second floors of a three-story garden apartment, WUSA9 reported.

Fire department officials said a second alarm was called before firefighters extinguished the blaze, bringing firefighters from Montgomery County to the scene.

Two of those rescued were hospitalized. There was no report on their injuries and condition, FOX5 DC reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
