GRANBURY, Texas — Firefighters in Granbury rescued a 2-year-old child from an apartment fire early Sunday morning, according to a statement on the department’s Facebook page.

Hood County 911 dispatchers received a report of the incident at around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, officials said.

When firefighters arrived at the scene in the 300 block of Parkwood in Granbury, dispatchers informed crews that a child was trapped in a second-floor bedroom, officials said.

Firefighters laddered to the bedroom window and rescued the child, according to the statement.

A video of the rescue posted to the department’s Facebook page shows the moment the child was pulled out of the window.

The child’s mother Phylicia Keen called the firefighters heroes and said she is grateful for their actions.

“They hit the ground running as soon as they got on scene and didn’t stop until my baby was safe and the fire was out,” Keen said.

The child was transported by helicopter to a Fort Worth hospital and is in good condition after being treated for carbon monoxide poisoning, Keen said.
