TAMPA, Fla. — When firefighters returned to their station around 2 a.m. after a call Tuesday, they noticed four extra legs and a lot of spots had followed them home.
Chico, the Dalmatian puppy who followed Hillsborough County Fire Rescue firefighters back to their station, briefly made it his home until he was reunited with his owner later that day.
Firefighters fed and washed the puppy before taking to social media to reunite Chico with his owner, if he had one. The Facebook post received over 35,000 views, reported ABC. Chico’s owner showed up at the station to take him home, saying he had gone missing the day before.
“He was a very well-mannered, well-trained dog,” the department’s spokesman Corey Dierdorff said. “So we knew right away that it was somebody’s dog.”
