It’s February, a month for romance, and love is in the air. But since we can’t exactly buy the fire service a box of chocolates or a diamond ring, we asked our Facebook fans to tell us why they love their jobs. Here we count down a dozen reasons to love firefighting:
12.“The sounds, smells, the brothers in arms.” - Lisa McFerren
11.“Being part of a family and a brotherhood.” - Billy Buchner
10.“Helping the community and people in need.” - Patrick Grutteria
9.“Lunchtime!” - Peter Ham Knochenhauer
8.“More women are becoming firefighters.” - Lauren Scott
7.“I would not call it love, but after 46 years it still feels great to walk away from a structure fire and see some of the building still standing and/or personal belongings saved.” - Chuck Harley
6.“The challenge of the job.” - Michael Fields
5.“The lights and sirens, duh!” - Anthony Ayala
4.“Nobody else gets to experience what you do.” - Matt Schadt
