Chattanooga firefighters performed a high-angle rescue to safely lower an injured HVAC worker from the roof of a senior living facility

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Chattanooga firefighters rescued an injured HVAC worker from the roof of Signal Mountain Senior Living on Thursday morning, according to a release from the Fire Department.

The man had been working on the HVAC system on the roof of the building when he lost traction and fell, according to the release.

Firefighters and rescue personnel put the patient in a Stokes basket, a type of stretcher, to prepare for the high-angle rescue. They used a rope system to lift the basket and then used Engine 17’s aerial ladder to move the patient from the roof to the ground.

Once he was on the ground, Hamilton County EMS transported him to the hospital.
