MONROE COUNTY, Fla. — A captain with Boynton Beach Fire Rescue and his family were injured in a crash in the Florida Keys on Tuesday afternoon.

Two people were airlifted to the hospital after the crash, authorities said.

Boynton Beach Fire Rescue confirmed on Facebook that Captain Jeff Power and his family were injured in the crash.

The crash occurred on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 70, when a Ram pickup truck and a box truck hit each other head-on. The box truck rolled and a third vehicle ran into mangroves, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

Information about which vehicle Power and his family were in during the crash, what may have led up to it and the family’s condition was not immediately available.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
