Video: Volunteer Pa. firefighter charged with setting 6 fires in his hometown

In addition to the arson charges, the 19-year-old is charged with endangering his fellow firefighters

CENTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A young volunteer firefighter has been charged with 24 felonies in connection with six fires that were intentionally set in his hometown over the period of a month.

Pennsylvania State Police say 19-year-old Aaron Scott Liggett confessed to setting two brush fires between March 1 and April 5, using a butane lighter and combustible materials, reports WTAE. He’s also accused of setting fire to a post office and a mobile home.

In addition to the 24 felonies, Liggett has been charged with several misdemeanors.

During a trailer fire on March 16, Liggett told the landlord of the mobile home park where exactly the fire was seated. The trailer was occupied at the time of the fire.

Liggett was suspended from the Coral-Graceton (Pa.) Volunteer Fire Department after being named a suspect in the fires. Police say he confessed to setting one of the brush fires. He has been released on bond while he awaits trial.
