CHICO, Calif. — Between 100 and 150 lizards were saved from a burning mobile home on property at 4472 Munjar Road, north of Chico, Monday afternoon.
The property owner said a boa constrictor and a cat perished in the fire, which reportedly destroyed about 90 percent of the mobile home interior, according to Cal Fire-Butte County officials.
Four engine companies and a volunteer company responded to the fire about 2:20 p.m. and reportedly assisted with the removal of the lizards.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
