LAUDERHILL, Fla. — Lauderhill firefighters stopped a man who was trying to carjack a fire rescue truck Tuesday night, NBC 6 reported.

Crew members were returning from a call when they saw someone run toward the station and scale the gate by the parking lot, the department said in a statement. They confronted the man, who wound up getting into the truck through a window. The firefighters were able to stop him.

Police took the man, Freddie Joseph Ros, 31, into custody, and he has been hospitalized. No charges have been filed.
