POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Four members of Polk County Fire Rescue were injured after their ambulance turned to avoid striking a vehicle and crashed into a building.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the ambulance was responding to a call on Aug. 12 when a vehicle was unable to yield to the right due to concrete medians, WFTS reported.

The driver of the ambulance moved the vehicle into the middle lane of the road to pass and ended up striking the concrete median causing the driver to lose control.

The ambulance then struck the right shoulder median before finally coming to rest after crashing into a business.

All four EMS personnel on board were transported to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center with injuries including a hand fracture, fractured ribs and tibia, and minor injuries to the hand and face, Lakland Now reported.
