Calif. firefighters save 4 puppies from house fire

One puppy did not survive; fire officials said the home had no smoke detectors

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. — Firefighters rescued four puppies from a house fire Saturday morning.

NBC Los Angeles reported that heavy smoke and flames surrounded the house when the first firefighters arrived.

They heard the resident of the home say, “my babies are inside,” according to the report. The resident was referring to five puppies still inside the burning building.

Firefighters entered the home and rescued four of the five puppies. One did not survive.

It took 15 minutes to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but fire officials said the home had no smoke detectors.
