MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police officers answered an unusual rescue call Sunday morning.
According to a post on the Memphis Police Department’s Facebook page, around 11:30 am officers received a call about a puppy stranded on a sand bar in the middle of the Wolf River. They found the dog west of Highland Street and south of I-40 in about six inches of water.
The water was rising and the temperature was dropping. The puppy seemed to be losing strength and was having trouble staying up. Police officers stayed on the scene and asked Memphis Fire Department to come help. Fire crews wearing wet suits waded out into the river and rescued the puppy.
