Firefighter injured while batting Fla. apartment fire

The firefighter suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to a nearby hospital.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A firefighter was injured while putting out an apartment blaze near Fort Lauderdale on Friday morning, police said.

Crews were called around 4 a.m. to a residence along Northwest 27th Avenue and 14th Court, just north of Sunrise Boulevard in the Roosevelt Gardens neighborhood, according to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles.

The firefighter suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to a nearby hospital, Jachles said.

There are few details regarding how the firefighter was injured or how the fire started.
