DUBLIN, Ind.. — A firefighter was injured, and a fire department tanker was damaged in a crash after responding to a field fire, according to a Dublin Fire & EMS social media post.
Firefighters from six departments responded to a field and combine fire in Fayette County on Oct. 26, WHIO reported.
After the fire, a Dublin tanker’s front tire went off the edge of the road, causing it to go into a ditch and hit a tree.
The department stated the driver was treated on the scene and later transported to Reid Health hospital by his family. He was released later the same day.
The driver, a 27-year department veteran, was operating the truck without emergency lights or sirens, traveling at a safe speed of around 30 miles per hour, according to the post.
The crash is under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
There were more fatalities in tanker/tenders than in pumpers and aerial apparatus combined in a 12-year period
