Owner charged with murder, arson in Ohio firefighter deaths

TOLEDO, Ohio — The owner of the apartment building that caught fire Sunday has been arrested and charged with aggravated arson and murder after two firefighters died.

WTOL reported that Ray Abou-Arab, 61, is suspected of using an ignitable liquid inside a garage.

Firefighters Stephen Machcinski and James Dickman died of thermal burns and exposure to carbon monoxide while battling the apartment fire.

A memorial service was held in downtown Toledo Thursday night. Firefighters from all over the state and country came to show their support.
