RAIG COUNTY, Okla. — A Green Country volunteer firefighter was arrested Monday on multiple complaints of arson.

Jessie Bennett, 19, is behind bars on $150,000 bond at the Craig County Jail. He’s accused of eight counts of third-degree arson in Craig County and one count in Mayes County. Bennett, a Big Cabin volunteer firefighter, is accused of setting multiple fires with a cigarette lighter that burned nearly 200 bales of hay.

After the second fire, deputies thought they had a good idea who was responsible, and they spent weeks investigating Bennett. On Friday, the volunteer firefighter was interviewed and investigators say he confessed to the arsons, even showing them nine locations where the fires occurred.
