KILLEEN, Texas — The Killeen Fire Department and Baylor Scott & White hosted a bone marrow drive for a College Station firefighter diagnosed with a form of leukemia.
“In the fire service we help out families. If you’re a firefighter no matter what station you’re at you are family to us and so this is an opportunity for us to help a brother and family in need,” Killeen firefighter Justin Todd said.
In July 2015, Doctors diagnosed Ben Miller, 31, with acute myeloid leukemia. Miller is in remission but he has a mutation to his DNA called FLIT3 which causes him to be a higher risk for the leukemia to come back.
